The Bible says we can know we’re going to Heaven, but there are four things we
must first believe.
1. We are all sinners
Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
Most people consider themselves to be a good person, but who is the standard of goodness? In other words, to whom are you comparing yourself to see if you are good? But the Bible says the standard is Jesus Christ and compared to Him, the the best person in the world is in trouble!
2. There is a penalty for your sin
The Bible says,
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death…
We get our wages on payday for the work we have done. The Bible says that sin also has a payday. Some think they can get their sins paid for by being good, getting baptized or joining a church. But the Bible says, “the wages of sin is death.” So,according to the Bible, the only way you could pay for your sin would be to die and spend eternity in hell.
That is not very good news is it? So, here’s the good news…..the reason we cannot earn eternal life through good works or any other way is because it is a free gift! Notice agian, that the Bible says,
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Eternal life is a gift, and a gift is always free. So, eternal life is a free gift because…..
3. Christ paid your penalty
Rom 5:8 But God commendeth His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
The Bible says that when Jesus died on the cross, He was dying to pay the penalty for our sin.
4. Pray and receive Christ
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
